When I have a class that struggles with the concept of 10 minutes I use one of the 10 minute timers above to help them recall what it means.

Quick PPT Tips from Police Instructor
Nothing is worse than a boring PowerPoint filled with bullet point after bullet point. Your slide show presentation will be effective and engaging when you follow a few simple rules.
1. One idea per slide
2. Talk about your point then show the accompanying slide.
3. Remember the focus should be on you, not the slide show.
4. Never read the slides to your students, but expand upon the ideas presented.
5. Use images, photos, and videos.
6. Have a conversation with your audience and not the show.
7. Simplicity is the key.

Change & adapt the presentations to make them your own. The slides originally containing videos will not play in this format. You will need to find relevant videos from this site or use some from your own collection. You can use  Wondershare to pull videos from LEOtrainer, YouTube, BluTube, DVDs, and other sources for your slide shows.

Community Diversity
The Diversity Topic is over 20 hours long in Ohio so my material is quite long. I broke the PowerPoint presentation up into 9 different slide shows and one Jeopardy review game as well. I enjoy teaching the diversity block and see it as an opportunity to offer my cadets an in depth survival course - not a preaching session on tolerance. You will see pictures of heroic figures as well as embarrassing moments in our history. Some photos are from my daughter Nadia’s travels as a young missionary to Mexico and Africa. She spent 9 months right after she graduated high school serving the orphaned and impoverished as God’s hands. Look for stories known to you or that inspire you when you first heard them to add to your presentation.
