Phalanx LE - Standing Shoulder to Shoulder with Law Enforcement Trainers
The Jeopardy game is setup similar to the game show. The above game contains the Domestic Violence SPO questions and answers, but you can replace them with any topic you like.
Are You Smarter than a Rookie is setup with questions from a handout I used during the Child Abuse topic. You can replace them with your topic as well.
Password is an easy to play vocabulary review activity that involves the entire class.
These are activities that will involve your entire class in the learning process. These exercises are specific to the needs of law enforcement instructors, and there are many more activities in Police Instructorfor you to use. Involving your cops and cadets will help them learn and understand on a higher level than is offered by a one way lecture of information. Try one of the activities with your students and you will see the impact that experiential learning can bring to law enforcement. If there is enough time always try to incorporate a relevant learning activity that doesn’t allow your students to passively watch while you teach. Get them involved in their police training and everyone will benefit - society included.
LEO Game of Life
This game is used to show what can happen if people truly work together for the good of others even if it is not in their own best interest.
A field trip can offer a real world setting for your cadets to learn from. The method is underutilized by academy instructors, but I assure you it can serve as an excellent learning experience for future law enforcers.
